Cello Lessons and Accordion Lessons

Karen received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Florida Atlantic University and stayed in Florida another two years to teach strings in the West Palm Beach County Schools. Since college, she has consistently spent time teaching a variety of instruments, including the violin, viola, cello, bass, piano, organ, accordion, mandolin, guitar, dulcimer, psaltry and recorder. For six and a half years she taught middle school strings in Yancey County, NC. Karen has been teaching at the Asheville Music School since 1996.

Karen performs regularly on cello with the Toe River Chamber Ensemble (for the past 10 years). Recently, she has been filling in on viola for that group. She has also played organ and directed choirs for two churches in Yancey County. She has owned the Music Box, a retail music store in Burnsville, NC since 2000. It offers competitive prices on guitars, mandolins, banjos, violins and other musical instruments and accessories. More information on her store is available at (828) 678-9596.

LESSONS WITH KAREN

Since Karen's students have ranged in age from 6 to 82, she knows that instruction must be tailored to the individual needs of the student. She understands that even the youngest can easily learn to read music, which opens up a whole new world of opportunities for them. Those who thought they were too old to learn have been delighted to find out they too can do what they had only dreamt about with a little patient instruction and diligent practice.
